This gate presses memory like grapes: the past fermenting in the mind, seeking sense. Its shadow is oppression, drowning in imagery of futility. Its gift is transmutation: the same pressure turning old material into realization.
The practice is to stop demanding answers of the pressing and let it work like a cellar works on wine. Insight here cannot be forced, only hosted. Keep the mood tender, the body soft, and one day the weight lifts transformed; its radiance is transfiguration.
