Sacred Doubt

The doubt that follows completion, keeping every truth alive.

This is the doubt that follows every completion, the mind's guardian asking: is it really true, is it really done? Its shadow turns the question on self and others as suspicion. Its gift is inquiry: doubt disciplined into the engine of understanding.

The practice is to aim doubt at ideas, never at beings. Question conclusions, especially your own, and let uncertainty keep knowledge honest. Inquiry that spares nothing eventually exhausts the questioner, and in that beautiful defeat, what needs no proof remains: truth.
